Fall Card Idea

Using Outdoors & More Fall Block paper, two Fall alphabet and Thanksgiving stickers, I put together a wedding card for my friend who is getting married. I was excited to get away from the black and white themes of wedding cards and make my own by incorporating their wedding colors with a unique quote.

I started with the Fall Block Paper and cut it in half so I had two "blocks" to use for the front and the back of the card. I made sure to use the part of the paper that would not show the upc or store logo when I opened it up so I could use the black inside for the card. I ran out of "T"s in the Fall alphabets, so I created "T"s using the extra "I" and extending the top with a black felt pen (brown or tan would probably match better). You can see this on the inside word "MATTERS". I used the remaining half of the block paper for the matted look on the inside in which I could inscribe a message. This card could also double as a Thanksgiving card.

Off Road Card

Here is a quick and easy thank you card for those 4x4 lovers.

It uses Outdoors and More's Sticky Off Road Accents and sticky Off Road Alphabet.

We used an old card that we did not like the cover of it - it was WAY to girly. So we covered it up with a piece of blue paper.

Using the Off Road Alphabet, we spelled out "THANX" on it ("THANKS" was too long to fit onto the card).

From the Off Road Accents, we used "no guts, no glory" and a bunch of the wheels.

I hope the person we are sending this to likes it!

Space Moving Memories Layout - Part 2

One of my favorite things to do during the summer is find a nice grassy hill late at night at peer up into the starry night. Here is a great layout to remember beautiful nights, or to remember exploring a planetarium or science center. This is fun because this page spins around, much like the sky does. This is part two of a two part series.

For this layout, you will need Outdoors and More's Space Moving Memories Kit.

While at this local science center, I got pictures of my wife in front of an astronaut suit and pretending to walk on the moon like Niel Armstrong.

The accents page has a great looking astronaut floating through space - that just had to go near the picture of my wife my the space suit. Also, it came with a picture of the moon, perfect for her moon walk.

To put together the Moving Memories page, it is first easiest to decorate it, then follow the instruction provided in the package to put it together.

It's SOOOOO much fun to play with the Moving Memories and watch your memories flood back to you like a spinning wheel. Moving Memories are hard to show in pictures, they're just something that you have to hold in your hands and play with to live the entire experience.
Here is what the layout looks like when you put the two pages together. I love space, and I think this is my personal favorite kit that Outdoors and More has made so far.

Space Moving Memories Layout - Part 1

One of my favorite things to do during the summer is find a nice grassy hill late at night at peer up into the starry night. Here is a great layout to remember beautiful nights, or to remember exploring a planetarium or science center. This is part one of a two part series.

For this layout, you will need Outdoors and More's Space Moving Memories Kit.

For this half of the layout, we used the galaxy paper. We had a picture of my niece and nephew peering through a telescope at a local science center. We cut out the background because it distracted from the pictures, and then we matted them onto the red nebula paper with the saying "Stars" and "Star Gazing" fro the accents page.

We then used the blue Neptune, red Sun, and swirling galaxy from the accents page to decorate the rest of the paper.

The nice thing about these kits is all the accents and alphabet are die-cut, so it's just a matter of deciding what you want to go where. It's so nice not having to cut anything.

Let your astronaut take flight, and happy scrapping!

Watermelon or Picnic Moving Memories Layout - Part 1

This is a great layout showing the fun of using Outdoors and More's new Moving Memories Kits, and is part two of a two part article. This part also uses Outdoors and More's new Moving Memories page.

This layout uses the Watermelon Moving Memories Kit. The Picnic Quick Cropper also matches well with this kit.

From the Watermelon Kit, get the Watermelon circle page and the Watermelon Rind page. Follow the directions in the kit to put the Moving Memories page together.

It's SOOOOO much fun to play with the Moving Memories and watch your memories flood back to you like a spinning wheel. Moving Memories are hard to show in pictures, they're just something that you have to hold in your hands and play with to live the entire experience.

To decorate the Watermelon Rind page, we used a piece from the Watermelon Seeds page just larger than 4"x6" that will frame a picture. (An additional hint: laying over this picture on the plastic protective page is a great place to add a couple of Outdoors and More's Portrait Foto Flaps. Read this Beach blog to learn how to use Portrait Foto Flaps or this Beach blog to learn how to use Landscape Foto Flaps.)

For this page, we also used the "I Think It's Time For Watermelon", watermelon thought bubble, "My Fruity Lover", and the row of watermelon seeds, all found on the accents page.

Watermelon or Picnic Moving Memories Layout - Part 1

This is a great layout showing the fun of using Outdoors and More's new Moving Memories Kits, and is part one of a two part article.

This layout uses the Watermelon Moving Memories Kit. The Picnic Quick Cropper also matches well with this kit.

Use the watermelon pile paper as the base. Next, rip a two-four inch strip from the watermelon seeds paper.

Attach a large picture in the middle (A picture around 8.5" x 11" is great).

From the accents page, this layout uses the "Watermelon" and the "Mmm...Watermelon" and attach as per the sample picture.

The great thing about this layout is the large picture. If you have a fun or memorable picture, the large size in this layout demands a lot of attention, and your eye is drawn to it. My wife loves watermelon, and the more than life size watermelon in the background more than amply shows her gigantic appetite for watermelon.

Have fun with this layout, I think it's one of Outdoors and More's best layouts yet.

4th of July

The 4th of July is creeping up around the corner. So in anticipation of one of my favorite holidays, here is a nice layout to remember those parades, barbecues and firework displays.

For this layout, you will need Outdoors and More's Americana red paper, Americana Border paper, Americana Old Glory paper, Bill of Right paper, Americana Alphabet, Americana Tags, Americana Elements or you can get the Americana Dark Blue Kit.

You could also add the July Stickers, Patriotic Alphabet or the Americana Light Blue Kit, which are not used in this layout, but fit nicely with it.

Using the Red paper as the base, rip the Old Glory paper about 5" from the top and attach to the Red paper. Next, rip the Border paper about 4" from the top and attach to the Old Glory paper.

Attach the word "Freedom" to the top right, letters were taken from the Americana Alphabet.

Attach the Blue and Brown tags to the bottom left corner, tags taken from the Americana Tags.

Decorate tags with heart from the Americana Elements and a star from the Americana Tags. Also, a strip of paper is used from the Bill of rights paper. Use some lace to decorate through the holes.

For the picture frame, cut a 4"x6" piece from the Old Glory paper and frame it with a piece from the Bill of Rights paper.

I like this layout, and I love the 4th of July. How this layout will bring some joy to you this Independence Day.

Zoo

Summertime brings visits to the zoo to see all the wild animals. Now the questions is which animals are more wild, the ones in the cages or the ones you brought with you. So to celebrate this family tradition, here is a great zoo layout with places for a bunch of photographs.

For this, you will need Outdoors and More's Zoo Quick Cropper and Animals Skins Border paper, everything (plus a lot more) is also included in the Zoo Moving Memories Kit or the Zoo Kit.

Inside the Animal Skins Border paper, notice how there are three vertical columns and one horizontal column along the bottom. Each vertical column is about 2.5" wide. There is a light brown framed by a darker brown. The large horizontal column along the bottom is also about 2.5" high.

Places are made for three different size photographs and a little journal entry on the top left where the date and name of the zoo visited can be placed.

The elephant, gorilla, cheetah and "ZOO" sign are used from the Zoo Quick Cropper and are also matted onto the brown frames (In total, there are seven total frames, two in each vertical column and the large horizontal one along the bottom).

On each frame, a little decoration is used to liven up the edges. They used a straight line with two lines every so often. So the border looks like this: ----//----//----

This zoo layout looks great, and will be the perfect layout to display pictures of all the wild creatures and their crazy antics, along with the ones who live at the zoo.

Sand Dollar Scraps

The designers at Outdoors and More have decided to start a new series of entries called "Scraps" where they will display fun creations they have done with Outdoors and More scraps, but haven't found a scrapbook page these scraps can call home yet.

The first one is a row of sand dollars on a patch of sand paper.

It uses Outdoors and More's Beach Bum Quick Cropper and Sand Paper.

For this fun strip, it uses just the sand dollars from the Beach Bum Quick Cropper. They are placed on a 2" strip of the Sand paper. Brads are placed in the center of each sand dollar, and on the bottom example, a piece of twine is twisted around each brad.

Quick and easy, and it uses just a few scraps leftover from another project. Hope we can find a page they will look great on, and hope this has given you some ideas on what you can do with your Outdoors and More scraps.

Beach and Lake Fun

Beaches are one of my favorite places - I love the sound of the waves, the feel of warm sand on my feet, being buried in sand, the thrill of bodyboarding on wave after wave, constant sand blowing in my food making it crunchy, and watching my brothers forgetting to use sunscreen turning into lobsters by the end of the day who complain about the burns for the next week as how "It wasn't my fault I got so burned."

So, for those great memories, here is a beach layout that can also be used for fun on a lake. As you notice in one of the pictures, there is a seadoo and in another are a couple of ski boats, so I bet these were taken at a lake.

This layout uses Outdoors and More's Beach Accents and Beach Scene paper.

The Beach Scene paper was torn just below the blue ocean, so it includes just the beach part of the paper. I love this paper and it's too bad they tore off the ocean part, but because this is a layout for fun at a lake, palm trees and the sign saying "Beach" don't really fit, so that is why they did it this way. I think what they did was very ingenious to use the paper to fit their own needs. Good Job!

From the Beach Accents sticky-back die-cuts, they used the "Swimming," Sun Bathing," "Snorkling," and "Sand Castle" and stacked them in the bottom left corner under a heading that reads "What we did:". You can tell sand castles were a big part of their trip because they are trying to turn somebody into a giant sandcastle by burying him in the sand.

They also use the "Fun in the Sun" Beachball from the Beach Accents in the top left corner.

They framed their pictures, and added a couple of corner holders to one of the pictures and turned another picture into a tag with some ribbon through the tag hole.

This is a very nice layout, and it looks like they had a lot of fun. I wish I could give credit to where it is due, but this was sent to me with no name attached to it. When you send pictures, please include your name, where you are from, and a short description of what you did if you don't want to read my ramblings.

Universal Studios Tour

Universal Studios is another fun Southern California tourist destination. Their tours are great, the rides are fun, and I remember as a kid being frightened beyond description at the Jaws ride where the shark jumps out of the water and just about eats you. If only I had a picture of my face from back then - I bet it was priceless!

Here is a fun page to help remember those memories. It uses Outdoors and More's Universal Script paper, World paper, Universal Accents, Universal Elements, or everything is also included in a Universal Kit (which also includes a fun alphabet).

This layout has place for a large 5"x7" photograph and two 3"x3" photographs.

To start, the right side of the World paper was ripped at the top about 4" wide and tappers off to about 2" wide at the bottom. Pictures are framed with paper and attached to the paper. "Backdraft," "Action," and "Tours of the Set" are used from the Accents page, and the "Jurassic" dinosaur and "Back to the Future" De Lorean are used from the Elements page and are framed with tag cut-outs.

The large picture is a nice touch on this, and I imagine using a picture taken from rides that take pictures of you on rides at the scariest part. The couple of smaller pictures highlighting some other experiences completes this layout.

Sea World and Aquariums

Continuing with Southern California Vacations destinations, and materials that Outdoors and More Scrapbook Decor has to scrapbook the memories, here is a fun layout for trips to Sea World and other aquariums.

For this layout, you will need Outdoors and More's Under the Sea Anchor paper and Sea World Accents.

For this, three pictures were chosen and displayed so as not to cover the anchor in the bottom right corner. A ribbon was placed across the top with a couple of other embellishments.

Form the Sea World Accents sticky-backed die-cuts page, the "Sea," "World," "Vacation," and "Shark" were used in the top left corner to describe the things they saw, and the dolphin, angel fish, and sea horse were placed along the bottom left to show some of the animals they saw.

Quick and easy, but very nice looking.

Shark Reef

As I said before, most of my extended family is in Southern California this week enjoying the tourist attractions it has to offer. One spot they attend already was Sea World. I know they will come back and ask what Outdoors and More has that that can work with scrapbooking their day at Seaworld.

I looked through our archives, and found this layout done using a piece of Outdoors and More's Seaworld Trip Quick Cropper. (Outdoors and More also has a Seaworld Kit, Sea World paper, Seaworld Alphabet, Seaworld Accents, Seaworld Elements, and Ocean Life Quick Cropper Cuts.) As you can see, this was made up for a shark reef, so these scrapbook embellishments are great for decorating pages for any zoo or aquarium.

The shark on this layout is from the Seaworld Trip Quick Cropper, but that's about it. I like the way it was set up for two pictures, and the colors match the shark very well. I personally would have picked some blues an made it look like something underwater. In fact, I would have used the Sea World paper, which looks like an underwater scene, is is one of my favorite papers from Outdoors and More. If you have made any layouts with these Outdoors and More materials, we would love to see them.

Disney Trip - Part 2

This is the second of a two part series about a Disney Trip scrapbook layout.

For this, you will need Outdoors and More's Disney paper, Disney Elements, Disney Accents and Disney Alphabet.

A couple of pictures were used, and framed with some very bright colored paper. Also, three tags were cut and framed as well. On the tags, the "Tea Cups" phrase is from the Disney Accents, and the Tea Cup is from the Disney Elements.

Pretty Quick and easy, but it looks nice - a don't know about the florescent color choices, but it works well. I would have picked some not-so-bright blues and not used pink at all on the layout. But this is just to give you ideas on how to use Outdoors and More Scrapbook Decor products, so I hope this helped.

Disney Trip - Part 1

Most of my extended family has headed to Southern California for a Disneyland/Seaworld/Beach trip. In honor of their trip, we will feature several scrapbook layouts around such activities.

This layout was ripped from Outdoors and More's archive, and we decided to reshow it because scrapbook layouts and scrapbook ideas never grow old.

For this, you will need Outdoors and More's Disney paper, Disney Elements, Disney Accents and Disney Alphabet.

The layout uses three pictures, a small journal entry about the trip between two of the pictures, and two tags were cut and ruffened up on the ends with ink. To spell out "Brothers & Sisters", a stamp pad and stamps were used, with the B, T, S, and E from the Disney alphabet.

The letters are from the Disney Alphabet; the phrases "Summer Vacation", "Day at the Park", and "M-I-C-K-E-Y!" are all from the Disney Accents; and the Matterhorn and Tea Cup is from the Disney Elements.

Hiking Layout with 16 Photos!

We have done other layouts with Outdoors and More's new Foto Flaps, but this one takes using them to the max! This layout uses 16 4"x6" photos! It is extremely quick to make (done in just seconds) and it takes no embellishments, but still looks very nice! And it's fun to flip through all the pictures.

For this, you will need Outdoors and More's Red Rock paper, one package of Landscape Foto Flaps, and one package of Portrait Foto Flaps.

The first thing to do is on the paper attach one landscape picture on the bottom left side and one portrait picture on the bottom right side, as shown below:

Next, insert this page into your scrapbook album inside of a clear sheet protector.

Get four Landscape Foto Flaps and three Portrait Foto Flaps. Space the Foto Flaps in a cascading manner down the page about every two inches, keeping the Landscape Foto Flaps on the left side and the Portrait Foto Flaps on the right side making sure not to cover up the pictures that are already attached to the paper, as shown below:

Final step, fill with pictures and flip through the fun. These are pictures from a hike we went on in the southwest, hence why we used the Red Rock paper, but his layout can look great with any of Outdoors and More's paper collection.

Do as a two page layout resulting in 32 photos!

Space Foto Flaps even closer together resulting in an estimated 30 photos on one page!

Family Camping Trip

Here is a quick family camping trip layout that encompasses a little ribbon, Outdoors and More's Camping Out Under the Stars Paper, Campout Accents, Campout Alphabet and Vintage Green paper, or you can get most of the items in the Camping Kit.

The first thing to do is find a couple of pictures and frame them with the Vintage Green paper.

String some ribbon across the page, and attach the pictures on top.

Tear the Outdoors and More's Camping Out Under the Stars Paper so a white boarder shows and attach to the top of the background paper.

Using the Campout Alphabet, spell "Family", and find "Camping Trip" on the Campout Accents. Decorate with other items from the Campout and you are finished.

Campout with lots of Pictures

With summer comes multiple camping trips, so here is another great scrapbook camping layout that provides space for at least 6 photos.

For this layout, you will need Outdoors and More's Campout Quick Cropper and a sheet of Vintage Green Paper.

Find about six pictures that you want to use. Arrange them like the example. Cut them to fit, and then frame them with the Vintage Green Paper. Also, cut a strip about 1 1/2 inches from the Vintage Green paper and put near the bottom.

Last step is to add the Campout Quick Cropper embellishments, and trim the tent and trees that hang over, and you are done. This is a great campout layout with room for lots of pictures.

Beach Layout With Hidden Pictures - Part 2

With summer comes visits to lakes and oceans. Here the second of a two part article on a fun beach layout that you can insert A LOT of pictures onto a single scrapbook page and not loose the fun of adding embellishments or cover all the artwork on a favorite scrapbook paper.

This layout requires Outdoors and More's Beach Snapshot Boarder Paper #2 and a package of Portrait Foto Flaps.

This layout requires absolutely no cutting, so it is very quick and very nice looking, but holds a fun surprise. On the left side are three full 4"x6" photographs. On the center photo, we added a little journal about our experiences at the beach on a semi-clear paper. You now are basically done!

Now comes the easy part. Many scrapbookers like to add lots of embellishments, but still want to add a lot of photographs, while many other scrapbookers don't want to cover up all the artwork on their favorite scrapbook paper. Here is a quick and easy way to solve both problems:

Outdoors and More's Foto Flaps are an easy way to add photographs and not loose space to embellishments or cover paper artwork. Simply add a Foto Flap onto the protective cover of you scrapbook album, insert some 4"x6" photos, and flip it up to expose your embellishments and paper artwork beneath.

As you can see from this view, we added a Portrait Foto Flap to the page over the cool beach and ocean artwork of the paper. It is too much fun to cover up with a photograph, but we wanted to have more photos on this page.

Beach Layout With Hidden Pictures - Part 1

With summer comes visits to lakes and oceans. Here the first of a two part article on a fun beach layout that you can insert A LOT of pictures onto a single scrapbook page.

This layout requires Outdoors and More's Beach Snapshot Boarder Paper #1, Beach Alphabet, and a package of Landscape Foto Flaps.

As you can see, the layout is not very difficult. Spell out "Surf Sand Sea" with the Beach Alphabet Lettering as shown on the example, and write or attach "and" across the "s" on "Sea".

Attach several beach photos as shown on the example. One 4"x6" photo is layed landscape across the paper, and two smaller photos are attached below. Your layout is now pretty much finished.

Now comes the fun part. Insert your layout into the protective sheet in your scrapbook album. On the protective sheet, and over the 4"x6" picture, attach several Landscape Foto Flaps as shown in the examples below. Insert several pictures, and you now have a bunch of "hidden" pictures that children love to look at and flip open.

The patent pending Foto Flaps are a quick and easy way to add pictures to any scrapbook page, journal, or photo album. They create an instant “hidden door” that can instantly create fun for children, women and even men when they relive those precious memories.

Campout

Summer is just beginning, and that means many of us will go camping to our favorite camping spots or discover some new fun camping spots. This is a great looking layout - very woodsy, like a camping trip. It is simple to do, and looks great!

For this project, you will need Outdoors and More's Camp Out Quick Cropper, Antique Crackle paper, and other cardstock colors of your choosing.

Rip the antique crackle paper all the way around, and then matte onto a cardstock color of your choosing (we used brown). This paper is what really brings out the woods feel for this layout. It adds some fun character to the page, while highlighting the bark feeling of tree. For me, it feels like I am looking at an actual tree, like somebody decided to do a scrapbook page on the side of a tree for everybody else to enjoy as they hike past that same tree.

Prepare places for photos as seen on the example, and a one-inch strip near the bottom, as seen on the example. Add your photographs, and decorate with pieces from the Campout Quick Cropper set.

It's a quick and easy way to create a great looking camping layout.

Baseball/Softball Layout

With little league baseball and high school baseball and softball coming to a close this spring, here is a layout perfect for your little sports player. It entails a little patience, but the results are great (further down this article, we will explain how this same layout can be done much quicker).

For this, you will need outdoors and More’s Baseball Throw paper and a exacto hobby knife. With the exacto knife, cut out the frames for the pictures and the name of the sports participant. It is easiest to do this by flipping over the paper, drawing the picture frames and letters on the back, and then cutting it out that way. The easiest way to draw letters is by tracing some that have already been done.

Next, attach a white sheet underneath, and cut out frames from that leaving 1/8 to 1/4 inch border. Last, place your favorite photos of the athlete, and you are done.

It’s a little time consuming, but the white border and letters makes it look very elegant.

Quicker instructions:

Start with Outdoors and More’s Baseball Throw paper and Baseball Alphabet Cardstock Stickers.

Cut frames to go around your pictures, and attach to the Baseball Throw paper. Use the Baseball Alphabet to spell the name of the athlete, or the team name, and you are done!

Variations:

This same design can be done with Outdoors and More’s Basketball Bounce paper and Basketball Alphabet, Soccer Kick paper and Soccer Alphabet, or Football Throw paper and Football Alphabet.

Journaling a Disney Trip

As summer quickly approaches, we are all anxiously awaiting family vacations. My family is planning a Disneyland trip this summer, so here is a fun layout for journaling a trip full of fun using Outdoors and More's Disney Trip Quick Cropper.

Place some of the Quick Cropper pieces down and cover with a see-through paper. On this paper, feel free to journal about your trip. As your children or fellow travelers about their experiences and include quotes from them. One conversation I know we will have several times is how long the Indiana Jones line is every time we go, and with the new Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull just released, it will be even more popular than usual.

After your journaling experiences have been poetically written, add a photo and the "Disney Trip" piece from the Quick Cropper kit, and you are done.

Spring Tulip Border

This is a fun spring layout for anybody who loves flowers. It is also very quick to do with Outdoors and More's Snapshot Border series.

To make this layout, you will need a sheet of the 12" x 12" Tulip Snapshot Border paper found here. This fun Tulip border paper comes as a left side and a right side, so it makes a great two page layout.

Next, add a few pictures and a cute spring poem, and with a little time you're finished, but have a great looking scrapbook page!
